September 2010 - Travel Information

FLIGHT DateS

Depart: September 3, 2010 (fly into Brisbane "BNE" or Gold Coast "OOL")

Return: December 19, 2010 or any day thereafter (depart from BNE or OOL).

You will arrive on Sunday September 5th and orientation week commences the next day on Monday September 6th. You can not move into campus housing until Sunday September 5th and if you are staying in Varsity Towers, you can not move-in until Monday September 6th.

Remember, you lose a day when travelling to Australia from North America, therefore, to land on September 5th, you need to depart September 3rd.

If you plan to arrive in Australia or on campus earlier than September 5th, you will need to make separate accommodation arrangements at your own cost. We can assist with this. Any such arrangements should be made as early as possible.

Of course, if you are doing a Bachelors or Masters degree at Bond, you don't need to return at all and can stay on campus or elsewhere in Australia during the December/January and break.

Getting to Bond University

Bond University is located on the Gold Coast which is approximately 500 miles north of Sydney (80 minute flight) and 43 miles south of Brisbane (55 minute drive).

Airlines that fly direct to Australia (from Los Angeles and San Francisco) are Qantas, United, Delta and V Australia (Virgin).

Qantas (daily direct to Brisbane and Sydney)

United Airlines (daily direct to Sydney)

V-Australia (daily direct to Sydney, 3 days direct to Brisbane)

Delta (daily direct to Sydney)

Air New Zealand (connection in New Zealand)

STA Travel (World's Largest Student Travel Company)

The Gold Coast airport is a 20 minute drive from the Bond campus and Brisbane is a 55 minutes drive from campus. It doesn't matter which airport you land at. We will pick you up.

Here are some popular flight routes to Bond University:

Option 1: USA to Brisbane (BNE) - QANTAS & V Australia Only

Option 2: USA to Sydney (SYD) with connection to Brisbane (BNE)

Option 3: USA to Sydney (SYD) with connection to Gold Coast (OOL)

The flight to Australia from LA or San Francisco (direct) is about 14 hours.

A typical round trip coach airfare from West Coast USA to the Gold Coast Australia is US$1,500+ for 6 month fares and US$1,200 for 30 day fares, but since the increase in competition (it used to be just Qantas and United), there are some great deals to be had below $1,000 round trip.
